Enjoy a drink on one of my special coasters. Yea I custom made them (the coasters) to be so light the drinks condensation makes em stick to the bottom of your glass, but still heavy enough that when it (the coaster) finally clatters to the ground it's loud as fuck and shatters your nerves and makes you spill your drink everywhere. what farming items in mmorpgs has taught me: i used to think using ice trays to make ice cubes was free but after thinking about it i have to pay the electric bill to power the freezer so every moment that i’m not freezing new trays of ice cubes is a moment that i’m underutilizing the freezer and increasing the cost of ice cubes. i have to constantly swap out ice trays for new ice cubes on an hourly rotation on a 24 hour basis or else i won’t produce the maximum amount of ice cubes possible and will underutilize the full potential of my electric bill. i need to stop using all other appliances and utilities in my home to make more ice cubes
if you are dealing with extreme heat or even just. moderate heat in your area right now. 80f/26c is when it starts getting toasty for a lot of people. if you are in a heat wave and you have not done yourself the favor of googling fucking "heat exhaustion symptoms" i am shaking you violently right now. look it up. burn the symptoms into your brain. heatstroke is no joke and it can and WILL sneak up on you before you're aware it's even an issue. ohh my god
if you are outside and it is hot and sunny and you are sweating thru your clothes or feeling tired or starting to get irrationally agitated or upset in another way or feeling nauseous or your heart is pounding etc etc if you are feeling Weird and Bad for no apparent reason while you are in a warm/hot area then i have news for you! you need to cool down! right now! oh my god.
and there's a very good chance that you're gonna think "it's not heat exhaustion, i don't feel any warmer than i have all day" when you consider it as a reason why you are suddenly feeling weirdbad for no apparent reason during a record-breaking heatwave and i would like to say. there is no harm in sitting in the shade and drinking some water even if heat exhaustion isn't the cause of whatever ailment is inflicting itself upon u. once i swore up and down to my bf that i was just kinda tired and headachy and got bitchy about the possibility of being overheated and needing to drink water. because heat exhaustion tends to make you bitchy. but i did as he asked and drank some cold water and my condition immediately improved. because it was heat exhaustion and heat exhaustion is evil and a liar. sit down. drink water
When you do drink that water, make sure you’re drinking it slowly as well and taking breaks, don’t chug it
Most of the water I drink involves this recipe:
1 oz lemon or lime juice
1/4 tsp pure powdered stevia extract (non-diabetics can put in a couple tablespoons of sugar)
1/8 tsp potassium chloride (morton's nusalt)
For rehydration purposes, please add 1/4 tsp salt
ALTERNATIVELY 1/4 tsp of "Morton's Lite Salt" which is 50/50 sodium and potassium.
this all goes in a 32 oz mason jar which then gets filled so approximately 31 oz of water.
This generates a citrus flavored beverage with electrolytes that is not super sweet but sweet enough to be easily drunk in quantity.
This can be adjusted to your medical needs, as some people are on low potasssium or low sodium diets due to medications or kidney stones or whatever, but if you're sweating you do need some sodium in there and if you're cramping you need the potassium, and possibly magnesium, but I take the mag separately. People with POTS can probably double the salt or more.
I keep a dedicated shot glass for the lemon juice and dedicated measuring spoons that magnet to the fridge for the electrolytes.
Compared to most rehydration beverages people buy single-serve, this ends up being quite affordable. Pure lemon juice (not concentrate, no preservatives) runs about $8 for 32 oz, which is 32 servings. Morton's lite salt is like, 2-3 bucks for 11 oz and you use a quarter teaspoon at a time so it's SUPER cheap.
The stevia: I get mine from Trader Joe's for about $10 per canister but again, 1/4 teaspoon at a time. With tart foods there's no aftertaste if you don't oversweeten. (this works with coffee, tea, chocolate and tart citrus very well.)
Anyway, plain water leaves my mouth feeling dry, this gets me to drink more.

genuine question from someone who would rather chew their arm off than go to a public gym, and also doesnt have a lot of money: how do you safely get into strength training? are there youtube channels, apps (android), etc anyone recommends that makes it approachable and don't lean into diet culture / body shaming?
also the biggest thing that keeps me from working out is that I already have joint and spinal issues and moving the wrong way can fuck up a knee or a shoulder or my spine for days. I really don't want to injure myself, and have unwittingly done so before. resources that are extremely clear on exactly how to move and offer gentler / alternative ways to move for people with limited range are vital.
Okay, so this may not technically be strength training, but muscles are dumber than bricks and cannot tell the difference between your own bodyweight and actual weights.
So, may I recommend:
He runs a YouTube channel where he goes over how to work your way up to more complex exercises (for instance, his pull-ups videos start with using a door jamb and moving your weight back and forth) so it's good for easing yourself into things.
You also don't have to fork out for expensive weights and such if you don't want to/can't. Substitute with stuff you either already have at home or can get from the supermarket and build up the weight you can exercise with. 500 gram cans of butter beans then 750 gram bottles of pasta sauce. 1 litre drink bottle then your 1.5 litre milk bottle. 3 litre bulk-buy bottle of laundry detergent. Etc. One of my dogs weighs 13 kilos and I pick her up on the regular (to her delight). One weighs 16 kg and I pick him up too (to his consternation and mild disapproval). You don't have to fit out some fancy home gym before you can start strength training.
I second Hybrid Calisthenics, that's the program I use. It's run by one guy who's taken it upon himself to make exercising more accessible and it's completely free! Each exercise has different variations based on your ability and each variation is further divided into different levels of difficulty so you can work up to where you want to be. If you can't do a single push up for example then this program will help you work up to the point where you can, and if you're a master of push ups then there are more advanced body weight exercises you can tackle so you can keep moving forward in your training without stagnating. The routine offers a full body workout with absolutely no equipment required for the beginning levels. The only reason you would need to buy anything is if you want to work up to a full pull up, at which point you would need actual pull up rings
Here's his actual website which I feel is easier to navigate than the YouTube channel on its own and organizes things in a way that's easy to understand. He explains everything you need to know about the routine and each individual exercise has both a text description and a video tutorial
Also want to recommend Diamond Dallas Page's program specially designed for people with limited mobility. You do have to pay, something like $45 for the whole thing, but it is for people who are literally bedbound so they can eventually sit up on their own and stand up.
